ColdFusion Hosts

I have for many years used Serverbeach.com for my ColdFusion hosting solutions. This is a company that provides excellent, high bandwidth, self managed hosting solutions. You choose the server hardware and then manage it all remotely. Serverbeach.com has been a wonderful, flexible hosting solution for me and I intend to continue to use them into the foreseeable future. Now I’m entertaining the idea of moving some of my hobby sites to a managed server solution so that I can just concentrate on the more important applications on my dedicated solutions. I’ve so far narrowed the choices down to one of two. CrystalTech.com and FusionLink.com

I’m looking for CF 8 hosting. A web control panel that allows the full management of domain parking and email administration. They must also provide web-based email as well as both pop and imap connections for my clients. I think I’m just going to have to bite the bullet and pick one. I hate these sorts of decisions. I sometimes tend to have buyers remorse.

Requirements:

  • CF8
  • Control Panel
  • Multiple Parked Domains / Multiple Domain level FTP accounts
  • Email for each domain parked (if possible)
  • Web-based email along with POP and IMAP connections
  • MS SQL Server
  • Connection to SQL Server via Enterprise Manager
  • Unlimited datasources
  • At least 5GBs web-based storage.
  • Daily Backups for web and SQL Server
  • Great uptime
  • Great Support (rarely needed hopefully)

If you have experience with either of these companies or would like to recommend another, please let me know.

Once I make a decision, I’ll be posting about my experience along the way.

After talking with a few others at houseoffusion.com, I’m going to add a couple other hosting companies to the list of options. This is only getting more confusing…

I called ahphosting today and talked with Gregg (sp?). He said he hadn’t yet tested CF8 with ahphosting’s control panel for their reseller’s program. He also said he was in the process of doing this today and would let me know the outcome. Their reseller’s package looks like it would have everything I need and he said additional storage space is possible.

I’m looking forward to hearing back from them later this week.

CF8 isn’t compatible with AHPHosting’s HC so he is in the process of installing and configuring HELM which I’ve used for a couple of years. He said they would have that up and running possibly mid-week for testing. I’m impressed with Greg’s efforts. Once we have something tested and working, I’ll most likely start the process of moving my 100+ domains and applications.

I’m looking forward to the end result but not looking forward to the migration (UGH)
