There is a lot of talk centered around Adobe’s LifeCycle Data Services. At least I understand a bit more about what the heck it is all about. At 20k per CPU however, I’ll be passing on my apps. It is however nice to know the option is there down the road when I need it. I’ll be blogging about it more later.
I’m looking forward to Matt Woodward’s talk which is coming up shortly. I’m a bit disappointed there hasn’t been much about getting up and running with Flex. Matt I think will finally, at the end the day, touch on this.
I’m looking forward to working with flex on my next pet project.

LDS is free for applications that work off a single CPU. The LiveCycle Data Services Express Edition requires no license, and can power as many applications as you wish. I use it for my applications all over the place, and man is it nice

I didn’t realize that. It has been a bit frustrating figuring out pricing and actually what the heck it does. My recent trips to Adobe over a year ago or so were met with frustration as the price wasn’t published and the descriptions were very general. Maybe Adobe’s recent redesign of their site also revamped their section on LDS.
Thanks for the insight, if you want to share with me how it all works it would be much appreciated. My dev and production servers are CF8 pro (not enterprise).
Best Regards!

Oh, and yesterday the gentleman from Adobe had on his slide something like:
$20,000 / CPU with no mention of getting something for free.
I saw him check something within the CF administrator for LDS but I figured it was for enterprise edition. Looks like I will need to do some searching
I’m excited to hear I just may be able to use it!

I’ve done a few presentations on the subject at my local user group: http://www.theflexgroup.org/presentations.cfm . Make sure to check out 360|Flex in Atlanta this upcoming February, where I, and a host of presentors will be talking about the subject. LiveCycle is one of those things, that like Flex will just become more obtainable as soon as Adobe feels they have a solid product. We have already seen that with the free version of LDS, and will continue to see that going forward.

Wow, what a great resource!
I’ve just added it to my Developer links section.
I can’t wait to read through it all. It’s folks like you that really make the whole community better. Thanks for sharing! I’m sure I’ll have more questions soon
