Nice Idea - SpendFish.com

So I was recently on LinkedIn and out of curiosity, I typed in the keyword “ColdFusion” searching for people. It’s nice to see so many more ColdFusion programmers listed there these days. Around the second or third page down, I came across Pete Freitag’s profile. Pete is a CF-related blogger I have been reading for years but something caught my eye. He wrote an application called spendfish.com which aggregates items listed on amazon.com that are “special deals”. What I like about it is that you can search for what you are looking for and then save that RSS feed. This will then feed you anything in your search that is a “good deal”. I can see how with just a little advertising, this can be a self-sustaining site. Creating a few niche sites like this that earns income can be fun and creative to work on. In a short time it can also become self-sustaining.

I love being self-employed and seeing smart, self-employed developers like Pete out there coming up with excellent ideas continues to fuel me to continue my work. I wish Pete all the luck with this and other ventures.
